Cadet Instructors Cadre (CIC)

The Cadet Instructors Cadre (CIC) is a unique branch of the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve, consisting of over 7,800 commissioned officers dedicated to the leadership and development of youth in the Cadet Program. These officers specialize in training and mentoring cadets, ensuring a safe and enriching environment for over 52,000 young Canadians. CIC officers are leaders who provide instruction, guidance, and supervision in a variety of settings, from weekly training nights and weekend activities to cadet summer training centres and advanced expedition opportunities. Their primary role is to foster teamwork, discipline, and leadership skills, inspiring cadets to achieve their full potential. CIC members come from diverse backgrounds—some are former cadets or military personnel, while others are passionate community leaders. Their commitment goes beyond training, as they serve as role models, helping to shape the next generation of leaders in Canada. Learn more about the CIC and their vital role in the Cadet Program on the official Government of Canada website.
