First Aid Team

First Aid is an important skill to learn, and that’s why 259 ensure all of our Cadets are trained in First Aid.  Depending on age our Cadets will receive either an Emergency or Standard First Aid certification issued by St. John’s Ambulance.  To compliment this training the first aid team competes at the annual first aid competition.

There are 2- First Aid Teams: Senior (15 yrs +) & Junior team (14 yrs and under).  Both teams have a captain, and 4 team members (1 is a spare). Not everyone who tries out makes the team. Team selection is based upon practical and academic standards.

The First Aid Team participates in the annual Zone First Aid  Competition.  The participants are from the Air, Army and Sea cadet program.

The scores are tallied, First place teams and captains are awarded to the zone.  Those scores are also used to decide who is the provincial winners.

Any cadet, from any level, may try out for the First Aid Team.  Cadets who want to be a successful team member, must attend first aid training, and do well on the written and participatory component.

In addition, candidates must:

  • Be present each week.
  • Give 100% all the time.
  • Possess a correct and positive attitude towards the members of the team.
  • Constantly demonstrate improvement in their knowledge of first aid.
